I am very disturbed about recent events. I believe strongly that Pope Francis is trying to do right thing. I am almost 90 years old. I have been disappointed in the Catholic Church ever since Vatican II. Now I am at the stage where I am more confirmed in my Catholic faith than ever before, but I have lost my confidence in the church. Where do I go from here.

I sincerely hope that the editors will not delete this submission. I hope, instead, that I will received some advise.

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the one to have confidence in. And stay close to Our Blessed Mother.

Pray for the better times that are coming!

Peace in Jesus and Mary,

Dorothy

Thinking about my problem about The Catholic Church perhaps things haven't changed that much but modern communication has revealed much more.?

It is up to us believers to allow the Lord to sanctify us and draw us closer to Him.

I need to cultivate His Peace and keep my eyes on him.

We have many saints to look to, who did just that. Stay especially close to our Blessed Mother.

This thread won't be deleted but it should probably be moved to a more appropriate forum

In the diocese I grew up in there were somewhat fewer allegations over the years and it seems like all the problem priests were dealt with quickly and thoroughly, according to the recently published list. There are other dioceses with similar records. Some descriptions of the problem paint with too broad a brush, not that it wasn't widespread.

it's funny how you can be rather disillusioned w/ the Church and yet be more Catholic -- as it were -- than ever

i can relate

Jesus did promise that he would never leave or forsake us. This is the Eucharist :) Matthew 28:20.. Jn 6:27-72

Jesus promised that the very gates of Hell itself would not prevail against his Church (Mt 16:18, i believe)

Awhile back and very wonderful, elderly Nun told me to ignore the foibles of even the priests, and others, since the Church is far more than mere human beings, and for me to keep my eyes on the Lord Jesus, and continue to believe that He will deal with those in His Church who seem to be out of line, so to speak. I was surprised, pleasantly, by her telling me that. It helped me a great deal. I honestly believe the Lord will keep us on the straight and narrow way so long as we remember to trust in Him, and do as instructed in Proverbs 3:5,6, and trust that He will be there for us through all we encounter in this life. :)

Hi--

I started my conversion just after the whole priest-sex-abuse thing blew up in the media. My sponsor told me the same thing and I repeated it often to people, especially family, who insisted I was wrong for even considering converting (only Catholic on any side for at least 500 years according to my mother's genealogy research.)

I figure if I'm not perfect, and I'm surely not, I can't expect the Church's officials to be perfect either.
