Awhile back and very wonderful, elderly Nun told me to ignore the foibles of even the priests, and others, since the Church is far more than mere human beings, and for me to keep my eyes on the Lord Jesus, and continue to believe that He will deal with those in His Church who seem to be out of line, so to speak. I was surprised, pleasantly, by her telling me that. It helped me a great deal. I honestly believe the Lord will keep us on the straight and narrow way so long as we remember to trust in Him, and do as instructed in Proverbs 3:5,6, and trust that He will be there for us through all we encounter in this life.

Hi--
I started my conversion just after the whole priest-sex-abuse thing blew up in the media. My sponsor told me the same thing and I repeated it often to people, especially family, who insisted I was wrong for even considering converting (only Catholic on any side for at least 500 years according to my mother's genealogy research.)
I figure if I'm not perfect, and I'm surely not, I can't expect the Church's officials to be perfect either.
