Novena for the Holy Souls in Purgatory - Day 7
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Make an Act of Contrition. You can use any form; simply ask God to pardon your sins and make a firm purpose of amendment not to commit them again.
Spiritual Communion: My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
Dear Lord, we trust in Your infinite goodness. We praise Your justice and implore Your mercy upon all the holy souls who are suffering in Purgatory as they await their eternal Heavenly rest with You.
You give each of us many opportunities throughout our lives to prepare to meet You at our last judgment. It must please You when we make good use of these opportunities, when we work to grow in holiness and in imitation of You.
We ask You to bring all the holy souls in Purgatory into eternal Heavenly rest with You, especially the souls of all who died happy to be able to find their rest with You!
Help us to make growth in holiness and virtue a true priority in our lives. Help us to make use of every opportunity You give us to prepare for our final judgment.
I especially ask in this novena (mention your intentions here).
Lord, hear our prayers!
Join us in praying the Novena for the Holy Souls in Purgatory!
Our Catholic Faith teaches us that the souls of the faithful departed must be entirely purified before they enter into eternal rest in Heaven. We know that the souls of most people who have died in friendship with God must be purified in Purgatory.
The holy souls in Purgatory are in great need of our prayers. Scripture and Tradition tell us that the holy souls in Purgatory need our prayers, and that it is a holy work to pray for the souls of the dead who are suffering in Purgatory.
The Church views the act of praying for the souls in Purgatory with such importance that she has included this work in the seventh spiritual work of mercy: “Praying for the living and the dead.”
