Hi all,

Was reading Uniformity with God's Will by Saint Alphonsus de Ligouri.
There is a section where he explains that God uses evil and bad things that happen to us for our greater good. That these bad things also come from the will of God.

He then quotes Isaiah 45:7 "I am the Lord forming the light and creating the darkness, making peace and creating evil" to support his point that bad things also come from God.
So my question is what does that mean exactly? Since evil is just the absence of good rather than actually something.
What does it mean when it says "creating evil"?
