There is nothing wrong with a man around 60 years old marrying a 20 year old woman in order to have children.

So, to clarify, is this merely a hypothetical, or is someone you know doing this?

I once dated a woman who was 11 years younger than me. That's probably about as large an age gap as I'd be comfortable with.

Reminds me of this old joke:

The 73 year old wife of a 77 year old man dies. A year or so later the man gets engaged to a 19 year old woman. An incredulous neighbor asks him about the age difference.

Neighbor: "You're 78 years old! In ten years you'll be 88 and she'll be 29! Have you thought about that?!?!"
Old Man: "Well, now that you mention it... No. I had not considered that. I guess I'll just have to divorce her and marry another 19 year old."

I plan on doing that exact thing because that is the only way I will be able to have 8 children.

I'm part of a long line of large age differences. My grandmother's parents had an age difference of nearly 15 years - he was born in 1854, she was born in 1869. My grandfather was born in 1872; my grandmother was born in 1897 - an age difference of 24 years, 11 months. My father was born in 1925; my mom was born in 1937 - an age difference of 12 years. My first husband (and my children's father) is 7 years older than I; my husband now is 14 years older. I didn't actively look for an older man either time; it just turned out that way.

Hmmm so what will your wife do when you die and she's left to raise eight children by herself?

The cost of childcare alone would bankrupt her, since she would have to work to support herself and her children.

My husband’s first wife was the same age as he; when she died, only three of their nine children were old enough to live on their own. No, raising six kids as a single dad isn’t any easier.

What if your young wife is unable to have that many children, should you happen to find a young woman willing to marry an old man just to give him eight children?

What if you find such a young woman, and then your equipment malfunctions?

Then my wife and I will adopt babies.

Is there something wrong w/ a 60 yr old woman marrying a 20 yr old man?

those who say Yes need to explain why it is OK for a man but not a woman. Oh, the children thing. Well, let's just say both are sterile.. then what?

It's a man's world and always will be despite feminism

but I don't recall Jesus favoring men over women? If anything..

My father was 9 years older than my mother. My great uncle was a teacher who married one of his students when she graduated -- and in Frontier Oklahoma, school only went to the 8th grade. My Great-great-grandfather was 30 years older than my Great-great-grandmother.

I come from a long line of dirty old men.

Men's fertility starts declining at around age 40 and as they age they are more likely to father children with autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, and genetic abnormalities. So just because they " can still ( presumably) have children" when they are are old does not mean it is wise to plan a family with that in mind. Also, studies have proven that with couples who have large age gaps between them, there is a higher risk of birth defects. Yes, there are plenty of couples where it has worked but usually that is where the gap has been within maybe 7-10 years, not 40. To marry a young woman for the sole purpose of having many children and knowing full well you won't be around to help raise them is pure selfishness and narcissism.
