Good morning brotheres and sisters!
As an introduction, I am a 4 year revert (from some degree of indifference) to this wonderful faith of ours. I checked out this site more thoroughly after spending a wonderful week in Israel recently. I have to apologize for rushing right through the front door and into the "family room" to start chatting, so I backed up to say hi and introduce myself. I'm afraid my biggest challenge in the rule book is brevity, but I'll try (after this post)!
I am the father of 3 here, and one in heaven. I'm a radiation oncologist (type of cancer doc). After acheiving every goal I'd set in life, found I still wasn't happy, in fact quite miserable, because my emphasis was on the wrong sylla'ble. 2 prayers kept me going, "God if you are real help me find you", and "Even the dogs get the scaps from the table". Boy did he answer big time! Now I could spend forever reading, contemplating, praying. Work has taken on deeper perspective with the opportunity to interact in a meaningful way with people, especially when the doors of faith open up. Not that I wasn't compassionate before, but it means even more now. For penance now I read medical journals - the agony!
Its always a pleasure to be amongst Catholic friends and those who are curious about the Catholic faith. A great joy arises in sharing the word, because our world is so badly in need, and the New Evangelization is happeninng! I know you folks in the Michigan area have Catholic radio, and I want to let everyone know about Relevantradio.com. Its spreading across the nation with good, solid Catholic programming. Many am and fm station sin the Midwest, and in Florida.
By the way, I chose my "nickname" after reading a Steubenville article describing their educational philosophy -dynamic orthodoxy, at the time I was trying to think of one, and it fit perfectly (although it would have been better if I were an orthopedic surgeon!)
God bless you all,
Dynamic Orthodoc
