I am Christopher and I joined this board when I was a brother at OLAM (Mother Angelica's place). I was a Knight of the Holy Eucharist. Me3rd asked me to join the board, and so I did. I know personally a few people on here. My brother David, don't know his screen... think it is DAMGH or something like that, along with Justin, whose screen escapes me. Then I also met Catholic Defender and Petra at OLAM when I was brother....

anyways... I am a revert. Went to a traditionalist school in so cal called Padre Pio Academy.... turned into a pot head, started studying many types of religions and so called spirituality. Used many psychedelic drugs in my search for God as I lived a crazy homeless hippie life. Never gave up devotion to Blessed Mother. Always wore the Brown Scapular.

Had a near death experience, where Blessed Mother saved my life, due to my mom praying the Rosary for my, and my wearing of the Scapular. I will someday write more in depth of this story of mine. But it is an intro...

Welcome to DCF but most of all welcome home. I am a revert too...and how grateful I am to be Catholic today. Like the prodigal I had so much and had to almost lose it all to regain my appreciation for His glorious Catholic Church. I too am a devotee of the Blessed Mother as she pulled me out of the pit by one hair.

I don't know how I missed this.

Anyway I'm Sharon Lambert Winsatt. I was 'saved' and baptized in a 'Regular' Baptist church and spent my teen years as an Independent Baptist. Mother was very devout and Father went along with what mother wanted.

I attended Bob Jones University where I met my husband David. We have three children.

Because Husband was raised in a strict harsh cult like fundamentalist atmosphere our children were left to decide for themselves about God and faith. While they respect us and all have a belief in God and do not hold antagonistic attitudes toward people of faith they are all basically un-churched.

I stopped going to church in the late 90s and came close to becoming an agnostic when I was watching a U2 video of all things and decided to give this "God" thing one more try. Husband and I started attending a 'seeker' friendly modern 'rock and roll' church that was affiliated with the Brethren. I was restless. I did research on the Brethren church and noticed all the 'splits'. About this time I was doing family genealogy and noted how my family would change churches from one generation to the next. They started out as Quakers, became Methodists and finally Baptists. I started to think things...like 'why switch churches?" Why not stay in the same church? Why do people believe that one church has more 'truth' than another. Aren't they just going where they feel more comfortable? Why do churches split?" I went online and found beliefnet where a poster named "BibleCatholic' answered all my questions about Catholicism. There was also a Priest on there who cleared up all the myths and misunderstandings I had. My research led me to Catholicism but I'm afraid I don't remember any 'aha' moments. It just slowly started to make more and more sense.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 03. After my treatment was over I told my family what I was planning to do and they all supported me. I was received into the church April of 04. Family is still supportive.

I've came here via beliefnet before my conversion and have been here ever since.

I've been here 6 years, so I think I can be considered a "veteran" now.

I am a wheelchair user (thus the avatar) and have had my disability basically my whole life. But I don't let it slow me down (thus my various nicknames).

I am a cradle Catholic. Born and raised in Detroit, but just celebrated 20 years in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. Was involved with the Protestant group Campus Crusade for Christ during my college years in the late 80s/early 90s. Though I never formally left the Catholic Church (in fact, my involvement with Crusade got me going to Mass regularly again after slacking off for a few years), I nevertheless had a "reversion" experience of sorts in 1997, when I started delving into Catholic apologetics. The writings of Dave Armstrong, in particular, were instrumental in convincing me that the Catholic Church is THE Church founded by Christ Himself.

In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies; swing, contra and square dancing (which I do all in my wheelchair, and mostly with people who are dancing standing up); and traveling.

My real name is Ginny, and I joined DCF back in 2011 as I was preparing to enter RCIA. I've told my story many a time here, but it seems fitting to tell it once more. Although I was raised in the Methodist church, if you name it, I've likely been there at least once. All the major Protty denoms, plus non-denoms, Charismatic, Fundamentalist (I used to attend the same church as Bob Jones III)--even some non-Christian faiths such as LDS, Baha'i, U/U, and Jewish (reform).

In 2010, I finally ended a disastrous marriage to a man who forbade me (draw your own conclusions, but the word selection is accurate) from following a long-held desire to become Catholic. About a year later, a series of events that cannot be attributed to anything but the intercession of Our Lady compelled me not to keep her waiting any longer. I received my sacraments at Easter Vigil 2012. A year later, my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer; it was left up to me to break the news to him. I told Daddy as best I could (as if there is a good way to say something like this). His reaction was to take my hand in his, look me in the eye and say "Call your priest." My dad received Confirmation the very next day, and my mom went into RCIA that fall (1 1/2 months before my dad passed away), receiving her sacraments at Easter Vigil 2014.

I met my wonderful husband on a Catholic dating website back in 2012, and we were wed in a Catholic ceremony on Valentine's Day this year, along with 10 other couples in our one little parish that serves this town of about 9,000 in south Texas, just 100 miles from the Mexican border. He and his late wife have 9 adult children and 17 grandchildren. I have 3 adult kids and 2 granddaughters. Just today, I learned that grandchild #20 is a boy and is due in late June/early July. Woo hoo!

Hi I'm Gracie. I was born and raised a Baptist. My father was a Deacon. I started having some difficulty with my beliefs in my 20's and started searching for 'the truth', whatever that was at the time, I wasn't real sure. My search led me through Buddism, some study of Islam and finally the New Age Movement. When into past life regressions, I heard about a vision of the Holy Mother ( I didn't call her that at the time). I thought surely this would be proof of past lives. I kept seeing this one book about the visions of the Holy Mother. It seemed just about every bookstore I went into, there was this book. Finally one day, while in a book, I said "Ok, if I see this book in ONE more store, I'm going to buy it just because". Guess what happened? Yep. The very next bookstore I went into, there was this book, up front, in a display by itself (well, other copies of the same book). So I bought it. The book led me to asking the local priest about the Rosary. I met with him and he gave me a STACK of books and an old rosary of his. He said when I finished those books, to come back, he had more, :)! Anyway, long story short, I converted at age 41. My son had been brought into the faith before I was able to join. My daughter and I were confirmed and I was baptised on Christmas Eve, 1996. I have been so grateful to our Mother, that she loved me enough to stay on top of me I've been a member here now for....I'm not sure how long, a long time My husband converted in 2008, after many years of my children and I praying for him.

Hello. Desertfalcon (Gregory) here. I did not die. I was only mostly dead. I don't know how many will remember me but I used to be a regular poster here but gave up all social media a little over a year ago. I even lost track of most of you on Facebook as I haven't posted or looked around there for at least a year. I went through some serious health problems and hospitalizations over the last year due to my CHF and became a real recluse, on-line and in r___ l___. I have been making some real progress on that front and am slowly trying to rejoin society so I thought I would login and see who was still around.

Yes, as well as they could have. Two down and one more to go in about six months if my body is healthy enough for it. I'm on a very restrictive diet and physical rehab for some time to come. (I'm 75 lbs lighter now!).
