Hello everyone. I'm Justin. I left Islam several years ago and have been looking for more information regarding Catholicism. I'm somewhat familiar with it because I went to a Catholic high school, but I no longer have the catechism in my possession (that was about 12 years ago). I know there is a lengthy process involved with converting, but I wonder about the state of my soul right now. I really want to get the ball rolling. Thank you for your time. |

The usual method is to contact your local parish and make an appointment to speak with a priest. Then go through RCIA, which usually starts in September and ends at Easter. |

Hi and welcome to the boards, Justin! ![]() See if you can find a local Catholic priest--he can give you more specific information about converting. Yes, the process can feel lengthy sometimes, but there are reasons that it takes time... and it's worth the wait! ![]() Will pray you find a good instructor! ![]() |

Welcome, Justin. 1st) here's a searchable Catechism. Enter a word or phrase and find all of the Catechism entries that include it/them. http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc.htm 2nd) Attend Mass as often as you can but at least on Sundays (though you can't receive the Eucharist yet). When you can't attend during the week, chew on the Mass readings at http://wwwmigrate.usccb.org/bible/readings/012816.cfm 3rd) As the others have said, find a Catholic priest or deacon who can guide you through the process of entering the Catholic Church. You asked an important question about the state of your soul. Only the Lord who knows our hearts can answer that. The Church teaches a "baptism of desire". From the Catechism: 1259 For catechumens who die before their Baptism, their explicit desire to receive it, together with repentance for their sins, and charity, assures them the salvation that they were not able to receive through the sacrament. As you seek the Truth, may you find Him by name - Jesus - in the fullness of the Church He founded. The Lord is with you, Justin. |

Pray. Always. Start with this one: "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner." As often as you humanly can, get quiet before Him. And what everyone else said. |
