Hi
I am seeking to discuss challenges in my journey to being confirmed in the Catholic Faith. Are attending a RICA group and Mass for 6 months, fan of Bishop Barron and word on fire and "making my way" towards confirmation
My past/childhood associations with the evangelical charismatic protestant church and the words Lord Jesus, sin, repentance, blood of Jesus, redemption, give your heart to Jesus etc are what is holding me back. I find my new found attraction to the Catholic after a lifetime of being agnostic hampered by these words. I am trying to find new words with the same meaning as I and continuing my submission to the mystery of the great story of Jesua and the Church. It's not that I feel I need healing from my religious past but the 'residue' of these words present difficulties. Meanings I use to date are
ie
God == divine goodness, divine father, divine good, divine creator
Lord= divine love
Christ = the divine caregiver
Jesus = Jesua

In my mind it's the meaning of the words that matter no the actual words
Look forward to any dialogue on this
Have a nice day

Welcome! I think you will get more/better responses to your thoughts if you post a question in Cath 101 or other appropriate forum.
