Have you seen the ads for this film? It is about 'the place where souls live before they get a body'.

The first time I saw ads for this movie, literally the first thing I thought was that it sounded like the Mormon doctrine of pre-existence. Yet, looking up information on the writing and directing staff, I can't find anyone who has a connection to Mormonism. Is it possible the similarly to Mormon doctrine is just a coincidence?

Maybe, but personally, I don’t believe in coincidences.

Could be, maybe, that some person(s) responsible for it were only struck by the possibilities of what seems to them an interesting plot line, in a school of thought not necessarily their own.

Is it before they ever get a body? Or is it more, during those times when they don't have a body? If it's strictly the former, that'd be a pretty specific kind of view and maybe plausibly connected to Mormonism. But if it's the latter, then it's just reincarnation. I know no more about the show than what I read in this thread. Seems more likely at first glance that it's about reincarnation than about Mormonism, though.

ETA: having now bing-ed this question, I see it is indeed about pre-birth souls. Some people study up on stuff before posting about it. I find that silly. :fyi:

I haven't looked up this poster, but I agree with gherkin.

Since I don't do contemporary Disney any more. I haven't. And I won't.

Well, right, I mean that's the real answer here.

So are you consistent about this? I mean, do you avoid Battlestar Galactica reruns (even the reboot they did a few years ago retained the Mormon elements, even enhancing them and making them stronger) and the novels of Orson Scott Card?

As for me, I'm okay with what I call 'supposals' i.e 'suppose these belief I don't actually have were true. what would that imply?"

In the same way, I think 9-11 'truthers' i.e. those who think the attack was a false flag committed by the Bush administration to justify foreign wars, is a pretty despicable. Nevertheless, I have no problem with movies Ike Star Trek Into Darkness or Iron War 3 which try to imagine what such a false flag operation might look like.

Never watched Galactica in any of its forms.

I will admit hypocrisy for Moana ... cause I l.ke the scenery, ambivalent about the story. Classic Disney I do like and watch.

I haven't researched this poster either, but I agree with Doom. I read a lot of counterfactual fiction.
