That is total nonsense of course, the two shows have virtually nothing in common, except, if course, for the stiff that Joss Whedon took from Star Wars. And Mal is basically Han Solo.

I'm going to have to break my streak and agree with doom here. Somebody restart the clock.

With the exception that they are both in the same genre.

It was set in the future.

I'm not sure we have much of a chance of not being ruled by China.

No, but I can say that my days of not taking Doom seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

Is it my imagination, or is the theme music muted compared to the first season?

Which ending? You did watch after the credits, right?

The other difference is that The Mandalorian is good and Firefly ... wasn't.

First ending was good. Second ending means it is starting a new story line. We'll see.

I was disappointed that they opted to CGI what's-his-name in. I couldn't get past that.

I think Whedon borrowed more from Jerry Pournelle's CoDominium future history than anything else.

The events of The Mandalorian are supposed to be taking place approximately 5 years after Return of the Jedi. They can't have grizzled "get off my island" Luke Skywalker. I'd heard of what they can do with anti-aging CGI; the result is amazing...and a little scary.

That was much better than Princess Leia and the Grand Miff Tarkin in Rogue One.

CoDominium/Alliance, fair enough. But it's space opera and one might as well trace it back to Doc Smith or Jack Williamson. Has a slight flavor of John Maddox Roberts Cingulum triology. I could maybe think of others.

Tastes vary. I was glad I saw the first 3 films, in their first release, for the novelty of the thing. I never made a point to see ANY further dramatization of that universe, though I did, a few. I'd trade everything written, filmed or screened in the Star Wars 'verse for 5 more seasons of Firefly and a feature flick or two.

Mileage varies. My mileage runs back many years over many sub-genres of SF. I've not seen any Firefly in the written word format, but it stands out, for what it was, in my memory and considered judgement.
