Sad news to start this thread. Don Larsen, the only man to pitch a perfect game (or even a no-hitter) in the World Series, has died.

i still have at least one of his baseball cards...always thought they should have been worth more, given his vaunted position in history.... but i guess, since that's about all he did in his career (iirc, he won less than 100 games and was under .500) it makes sense... i do seem to recall having one of the cards that commemorated his achievement... probably berra jumping into his arms

big bad ouchie for the astro bullpen... losing rendon was a no big deal (imho) ...i was always a little on edge when he was brought in ... but losing a stud like will harris is going to be kinda hard to compensate for... if it was just a matter of $$$$, then shame on crane and luhnow :nono:

he's now getting 24M for 3 years ... have no clue what we were paying him

wow...am hugely surprised chirinos didn't stay with us... guess the $$$ wasn't right or he wanted to get back "home" to finish his career... well , that's certainly a predicament i didn't see coming... great....now we've got a green rookie, a 32 yo rookie and a lumbering dinosaur with a cannon arm and an anemic bat for our catching position.... not good...not good at all... i know they said they were looking around for a starting catcher... i guess robbie read the writing on the wall and figured he wasn't really in our plans ... for being such a successful front office for a few years, seems like this year we're imploding

and i just discovered we also lost miley to free agency.... so that means 40% of our starting rotation and 26% of our 2019 innings decided to play like a tree and leave

fwiw, today is the deadline for offers made to avoid arbitration ... have a feeling we will definitely get springer done, as i doubt the budget tight astros want to go to arbitration with george... correa might go to arbitration....he is a completely different case as he has not realized his potential yet, but probably wants to be paid like he has .... those are the only two of which i'm aware on the astros ... i know judge is on the list for the yanks... will be interesting to see how it goes for him
