| Post subject: | Corpus Christi Procession |
Ours begins with Mass at 3 PM then the procession leaves our parish and goes for a little over a mile through downtown to the other Parish in town. Benediction and refreshments follow. What is your parish doing? |

Ours has been cancelled due to high winds. It's blowin' like a hurricane this weekend. |

Starts with a play about how it came to be put on by the youth of the parish... Then 1.25 miles through downtown, led by a couple dozen altar boys, knights in full dress and first communicants throwing rose petals in front of Our Lord... past three Protestant churches, stopping for Benediction at seven different locations... Singing praises, featuring the polyphony of our awesome choir. Archbishop will be here this year joining us... Followed by a BBQ and potluck.  It's my proudest moment as a Catholic in public life each year. It's my favorite part of my parish. |

We celebrated Corpus Christi last Thursday (the feast is not moved in the Dominican Republic). The procession began at 7 AM at the Cathedral of St. Philip the Apostle and arrived, two hours later, at the baseball stadium of Puerto Plata. The bishop and all the priests attending concelebrated the Mass which was followed by Benediction. All the parishes in the diocese participated, which is why the Mass was at the stadium. The Cathedral can't hold that many people. FYI, in the DR, Corpus Christi is a national holiday and a Holy Day of Obligation. |

do not know if anything was done on the actual feast day (didn't see any notification of anything) but nothing was done for sure this weekend... i have never been in a Corpus Christi procession

Ours will have 2 priests, several altar boys - incense all the way! They recite the rosary and sing songs all the way, children drop rose petals (we save those all year long from the rose garden on our grounds) - it goes right down the historic "Bathhouse Row", the most touristy part of town. Knights in full regalia carry the flags in front then march beside the Monstrance. |

Syracuse has a procession today, but we aren't able to attend for health reasons. Happily, many young adults participate, which paints a powerful picture for the neo-atheist liberals who think that Catholic = old people. |
