So, a grand slam, 14 runs all total, three batters hit by balls, an earthquake mid-game, and yet everyone agreed: This was three hours of tedium. Thus two questions: 1. How in the world is this the national past time? 2. What in the world happened to the Angel's pitching? |

It's always tedious when your team is getting crushed. Most of us didn't care about the team (and aren't baseball fans) and soccer, football, and hockey games are still interesting when you're losing. |

soccer...interesting... ![]() ![]() why is a 49-0 blowout interesting in football...if you are supporting the losing team ...only if the over is 51 and you bet it it would seem to me |

Paulus Magnus wrote: How in the world is this the national past time? Because it's one man facing down a mob. It's a game that demands honesty on the field and who's rules, (infield fly for example.), will penalise the cheat. Because 162 games tells the lucky that they will need more than good fortune to call themselves heroes. It's one of only two games that I know of in which sheer physical strength cannot defeat those that play with heart. Baseball, in the end, is about character, and that makes it our fitting national pastime. |

They haven't won a World Series in 106? years, and yet almost 40,000 fans fill the seats on average, every single game for 162 games, every season. No other American sport comes close to that. |

I love baseball...well at least the majors. I can't think of a better place to take a nap or read a good book. Still, every once in a while, something exciting happens. |

Greetings: It's the national past time because:you can drink a lot of beer, leave nut shells all over the place,be up to date on five different bathroom- graffities ,pass out, wake up,vent spleen, hold your eyes open for the ninth inning, which means you didn't miss anything. by(e)carg |

I actually sat through a 20 inning game between the Cardinals and Mets earlier this season. I guess I'm into boring. |
