You know, it's that time of the month. I don't want to approve of anything sinful but I don't want to come off as a jerk, either.

So say you're at work and someone wishes you a happy pride. What can you say back that is tactful and wouldn't make things awkward?

And do you think one can be justified saying "you too!" on the basis of mental reservation? As in, I don't approve of what it stands for, but I wish you a happy time of the month, I'll just allow you to be deceived into thinking I'm for that, so I don't run into trouble with HR.

Do people say that? I've got to get out less.

I think the response depends totally on context, but my default would be to say "I'm doing well, thanks, how 'bout you?" Or whatever. I'm not getting into some kind of debate over this thing with random strangers.

What do you say to someone who wishes you a Happy Pride?

"Pride goeth before a fall?"

Just reply “thank you.”

You aren’t agreeing with the month. You are simply thanking them for wishing you a good (to be happy).

Why would anyone say that to you? Do they think you are gay?

Depending on who says it to you, my response would be 'Is it that time of year again? I didn't notice, I've been too caught up in celebrating Heterosexual Shame Month'

"Happy pride?"

I'm a member of the Knights of Columbus, not the Lions Club.

You know, every time I see or hear something about celebrating "pride" I can't help but  at the notion that we as a society have taken one of the 7 deadly sins and dedicated ourselves to celebrating it. It just strikes me as so odd.

I have been thinking about starting a month to celebrate sloth, but I just can't get myself off the sofa.....

There's good pride and bad.

And which do you think our culture is celebrating?

The adoption of the generic term 'pride month' to replace the previous name 'Gay Pride Month' is a subtle sign of a growing civil war within the movement, increasingly, the 'GLB' in the 'GLBT' are angry at the There is, in fact, a clear and direct contradiction between these two factions. For years, we've been told that 'we're born that way' but the transgender movement is saying that no one is born in any way.

If transgenderism is true, then there is no such thing as a gay or a lesbian, there is also no such thing as a heterosexual. You can't say that you are attracted to the same sex, if there is no such thing as a 'sex', you also can't say that you are attracted to 'the opposite sex' if there is no such thing as a sex to be the opposite of. Transgenderism thus threatens the entire idea of a 'gay identity', it also threatens feminism, after all, you can't talk about 'women's rights' if there is no such thing as a 'woman'. There is in fact a growing disenchantment with transgenderism within the 'gay rights' crowd.

Transgenerism itself is also a contradiction to itself. How can you say that you are 'a woman trapped in a man's body' if there is no such thing as a man or a woman? How can you talk of 'making the transition' from man to woman or vice versa if neither of those two states actually exists at all?

There is also the fact that lesbianism, specifically, is under attack by trangenderism. There is an increasing tendency for advocates of transgenderism to argue that 'lesbianism' does not exist, a woman who is attracted to other women is simply a transgender man who won't admit it and that the solution is to get a sex-change operation. As you might imagine, lesbian advocates find that notion extremely offensive.

So, in short, the adoption of the generic term 'Pride Month' is designed to paper over these differences and pretend they don't exist. I don't think it will work in the long run, and an rupture seems ineviatable.

To attack them for pride is more of a "rhetorical/gotcha/own" thing. The real issue is sex and sexuality.

Whether the kind of pride that the culture celebrates is good or bad depends on whether homosexuality is a normal and morally acceptable thing. People who disagree on the latter talk past each other on the former.

Um, ok. So we should celebrate the ultimate in arrogance which tells the Creator He can't define procreation!
