Okay, I may be breaking the first rule of the Opus Dei, which is don't talk about the Opus Dei.

However, what has been your experience with them?

As for myself, I have decided to suppress the Opus Dei (the personal prelature).

My reason, I AM the Opus Dei.

I've heard of Opus Dei, but have never really understood what it is - or what it isn't. I've never come across a "for dummies" explanation of it. If I halfway understood it, I might be able to form an opinion of it.

I have known some good people associated with Opus Dei, and some of the most practical advice I have received on being a priest and living a Catholic life came from an Opus Dei priest.

When I first started asking about spiritual direction, a priest (who didn't have the time) said to find an Opus Dei priest. Spiritual Direction is their charism. I then read a blog about spiritual direction, and it too said, if you can find an Opus Dei priest, that is their charism.
Ever hear the same thing twice in relatively close timing? Kind of gets your attention. While I still haven't found one that is fairly local, I haven't given up.

The priests of Opus Dei are, in my experience, excellent priests. I learned quite a bit from the priests of Opus Dei. The associates were wonderful as well, in my opinion. A little odd maybe, but this is coming from Nathan (myself), and I am one of the oddest in the Kingdom.

But yes, I have heard that if a priest is looking for a decent priest as his own confessor...he should seek out a priest in the PP of Opus Dei.
