I am unaware of this tradition
Its a blessing applied to houses each new year.
One takes blessed chalk and above the doors to the house you write the first two digits of the year + C+M+B + last two digits of the year. Then say a prayer. Some people use "K" rather than "C". See this article.....

WARREN — Mike Smigielski marks the new year by literally marking his home.
After Sunday Mass at St. Hyacinth Parish in Detroit, Smigielski marked the top doorpost of his Warren home with chalk, writing “20 + K + M + B + 19” in celebration of the Epiphany."
I will tell you that I believe this blessing saved our house during a really, really, really bad ice storm several years ago. A limb broke off a tree and landed on our roof. Zero damage. None. This thing was a huge limb and fell quite a distance. Made the biggest noise I've ever heard on a house. The family was all hunkered down in the basement with the wood burning stove, but for me it was too hot. So I slept in our 43 degree bedroom and it hit our roof right above that room. I thought the whole house was collapsing.
Other houses were severely damaged by smaller limbs. But our house was just fine.
