Greetings! I will be discussing with my Pastor the Washing of the Feet and the reading of The Passion. At our Parish ALL are invited to wash the feet of anyone who wishes their feet to be washed. Additionally, the Passion is read by 3 people, typically 2 Lay People and a Priest. They all take turns reading portions so that the words of Jesus can be read by the laity. I am knowledgeable enough to know that both of these practices are illicit but would appreciate very specific recommendations for our Pastor that would help to encourage him from such practices. |

When it's sung, no. Otherwise, possibly. |

Yeah I think the point is only that the actual words of Christ in the Passion must be read by one who is charged with reading the Gospel. That can be a priest or a deacon, I guess, although I've only ever heard it read or sung by a priest. |

I have heard it sung by a cantor on Good Friday, and I believe that's acceptable if there's not a priest or deacon (or bishop) present who is up to the task. |
