If you struggle to understand the basic story, or if a child needs something easier to read, this paraphrase is o.k. Just use the Catholic Edition.

Every Catholic should own a Douay-Rheims at least for a reference maybe not your everyday reader. I read a 1962 St Josephs which is the Challoner revision of the D R. I go back to read the DR for comaprison all the time my wife thinks it silly, she says just stick with the DR. Just compare the DR to modern Catholic translations and you will immediately see the difference.

The gender thing bothers me for example changing "the Father" to "The One". Politically correct bibles. Or "brothers and sisters" cant find that in the New Testament. Some things just need to stop in the N O, like flashin me a peace sign at the Kiss of Peace who started that?
Im sorry down the wrong path. hehehe

it isn't a translation, it's a paraphrase, and an awful one at that

Yeah, I agree with…..Doom.

Best to stay away from that “translation”, especially when there are no other many good ones.
