I wanted to say "Hi". I've known about this board for a while, but never had time to join. It seemed like it was time though. Thank you for making it available. :)

A bit more about myself.

I made the decision to convert to Catholicism about Easter of last year, largely in part to the One Bread, One Body forum, I mentioned. I came into the Church on the day before Trinity Sunday, through baptism and confirmation. I had first communion on that Sunday.

I converted from Presbyterianism, but grew up in the Church of the Nazarene.

Joining the Church is the best decision I've ever made.
:)

amen to that... it's the best decision any non-Catholic can ever make

am very surprised to hear you came into the Church through baptism at any time other than the Easter Vigil though.... but any time is a good time

haven't met too many Nazarenites... what about our Church is different from their beliefs?

welcome to the board... enjoy your stay... you will learn a lot!!!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

Monsignor didn't want to move to fast and miss things. When we made it through all the material, it was after Easter.

The Nazarene church is much more similar to the Catholic Church than the Presbyterian. Neither believe in OSAS and both have a focus on personal holiness. The Nazarene church is Wesleyian, but doesn't hold to everything he did.

Monsignor is very dear. It was wonderful having him take time to do the preparation (RCIA) class with us. I pray he's with us for may years.

The procession was great. It was incredible seeing so many Catholics together in one place.

Did you make it to the Family Conference? I wanted to go, but had other things I had to be doing last weekend. There were some great speakers there.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

I pray he is too. I don't get down there as often as I'd like, but I love listening to Monsignor's sermons. What a blessing to be brought into the Church under his guidance and wisdom!

No, I didn't make it to the Family Conference either. Actually, there is a much bigger conference held down in Wichita(Midwest Catholic Family Conference). Never been but they are known for having great speakers and a huge turnout and I'd recommend this to you as a new Catholic if you can make it some year!
