I certainly know Christ ultimately is victorious.

But it is so discouraging watching the co-ordinated attacks of the left on decency, most specifically, the NY state legalization of infanticide which occurred last week -- and now VA and I think Rhode Island are rushing to do the same. And what is MOST discouraging is that this legislation is being pushed by supposed "Catholics"; and the very tepid, almost pathetic responses from our Bishops. How long Lord?

The Lord told us to pray for our enemies.

The holiness of believers has to increase...(prayer life, etc.).

And I like to remember St Padre Pio's words: "Pray, hope, and don't worry."

Technically the law does not allow for actual infanticide.

A distinction without a difference.

Then the new law is no different than the old. With regard to abortion/infanticide that is.

NY is just the tip of the spear though. The proposed VA law (which has been voted down, for now) allowed for mothers to choose to let their babies die once born.

If such laws pass, I can hardly wait to follow the court cases as fathers and grand-parents rush to the judiciary. I will guess now, however, that Child Protective Services will be absolutely silent ... cause there is good abuse as well as bad abuse.

People are often surprised to find out how their own state stacks up WRT abortion limits:

I live in Illinois, which is still run by the Chicago machine. I'm only surprised that New York beat us to the punch.

On this you and I completely disagree. Read my great unwritten and unpublished book, "The Decadence of Affluence".

And if what all others call reality hits most of our affluent secular Marxist modernists, they will only conclude that they have been victimized. Because the patriarchy or racism or fill in the blanks.

This post taught me that Chicago is in Illinois.  :fyi:

I knew that there was a place named Illinois (probably from one of those "amazing facts" books), and I knew that there was a place named Chicago (from a Home Alone movie), but I never knew that Chicago is in Illinois.

If only it were not so. The relationship of the rest of the state to Chicago is ambivalent at best.

Chicago appears to the rest of us as at least as much of a burden as it is a blessing.

1. How is it a burden?

2. In India, there were/are movements, including several successful ones, for bifurcation, etc of states. There was a massive reorganization on linguistic basis in 1956, and even after that several new states were created by dividing existing ones. The last bifurcation was as recent as 2014.
Has America ever reorganized/bifurcated states?

Just once, and, arguably, unconstitutionally, during the American Civil War. West Virginia -- the pro-Union counties of Virginia-- in effect, seceeded, from the state of Virginia. There were other divisions at other times, but these were of territories that then, through Constitutional means, became States.

The issue of dividing states and creating new ones is a political one. Although each state is apportioned Representatives in the House of Representatives based upon population, each state also has two Senators in the Senate, without regard to population. There has been much discussion over the years about States dividing. Texas in the distant past. California, more recently. Where some of the more liberal elements desire to break California into five states, thereby creating, presumably, 10 Democrat Senators from the State, thus giving it immense power nationally.

Not really.

It's a common thing what he is saying. Here the cities are much different than the country, and some places the contrast is really high, with Chicago being an extreme example.
