Can anyone recommend any good Catholic theological (scholarly) journals, currently in publication, that are not bat crazy liberal or drinking poison from the New Theology?

Thanks. Anything else that is more general instead of Thomas-specific (not that it's a bad thing)?

Maybe Nova et Vetera or New Blackfriars?

I was going to recommend Nova et Vetera and The Thomist, so I suppose gherkin force-pickled me. This should not be construed as agreement with gherkin.

The Thomist, Nova et Vetera, Le Revue Thomiste.

If you want a non Thomistic journal, that is solid, you must go to the land of unicorns. While there, find me an American wine not from California, that isn't trash.

There are individual thinkers, but no solid publication outside the Thomistic universe afaik (see as Thomism is the philosophy of the Church, etc, not surprising)

PED, I had the Biltmore House Christmas white blend (NC) with my Christmas dinner and it was sublime. However, I feel your pain. Alas, this particular wine is only sold at Christmastime. https://www.biltmore.com/wines/detail/c ... -wine-2018

I like my local Post wines here in western Arkansas. Not expensive at all. Actually their table red, while far from being the most wonderful thing I've ever tasted, is really surprisingly pleasant. Lighter and a little sweeter than I usually prefer--I'm more of a cab or zinfandel guy, but for a table wine, it's really nice. One of the few reds my wife can enjoy.

As to the OP, I assume First Things isn't scholarly enough. I guess it depends on what the purpose of the reading is?

This likeness reveals that man, who is the only creature on earth which God willed for itself, cannot fully find himself except through a sincere gift of himself. ~ Pope Paul VI, Gaudium et Spes 24.3

I had Nova et Vetera in mind, as Levering personally handed me a copy of it years ago – I wasn’t sure if it was still holding up as solid.

EDIT: I see on their website they have been endorsed by Bishop Barron and Cardinal O'Malley, oh goody.

I saw that the other day, and then I saw it was run by Jesuits, and then my brain immediately rejected it. So, I take it that they're sane?

Haha, I was imagine a journal that included Thomism as well as other non-insane theologies.

I was just poking fun. Your instincts were correct, they're very liberal. To give you an idea... a few days ago I listened to a lecture by their Associate Editor who referred to God as "she" multiple times during the talk. They also have a glowing review of Fr. Martin's book Building a Bridge. So in all seriousness, you're right - don't waste your money.

Some of their stuff from the 40s and 50s though are pretty interesting, but not really Thomistic.

I'd also offer up the cranberry wine from Cowie (only available in the fall)

I once had a Missouri wine that tasted like an alcoholic Welches grape juice. :fyi:

No, I'm not kidding.
