I was cruising the "free stuff" section of Craigslist looking for metal to add to my collection and came across an ad that says


STEP LADDER - SLIGHTLY BENT
Needs to be straightened a little.
Good for someone who is handy with straightening things.

This is what the owner considers "slightly bent"

I'm guessing someone backed into it.

Yeah, and it's just "slightly bent" and a "good mechanic can fix it."

Dude, that stopped being a ladder and began being art a couple of bends ago.

So, if Father's right and someone backed into it, you should be able to fix it by driving over it forward.

No charge for that advice this time, youngster, but I'd suggest improving your "straightening things" skilz if you intend to stay in the scrap metal business.

That post is probably intended to be a joke.

There is an old joke that goes something like this:

For sale: A first edition Dickens, cover badly damaged, the spine is bent, the first chapter is missing and there are blood stains on half the remaining pages, otherwise fine.

That is probably what this was.

I imagine that the metal would be greatly weakened even if it could be straightened out again.

If it was my copy of David Copperfield, it was my blood after I slit my wrists to get out of reading it.
