Something Bad is going to happen soon.

You are quite right. I'll tell him you approve.

I am particularly interested in that book, for more than the usual reasons.

It moves very quickly; there are not many "infodumps". It comes to a very definite end but there are many things left unresolved. That's not necessarily a complaint, of course he would leave "hooks" for future works but some people might be disappointed.

People who are disappointed with David are not My People.

Yes, there are hooks. There is a lot of history coming, still.

And the other reason I'm very much looking forward to it ....I'll tell you later.

Weber's novella "Dark Fall" (which is supposed to be released along with Uncompromising Honor) is now available on Baen's web site:

Oooo. Thank you.

Uncompromising due out 2 Oct, as you likely know. Very much looking forward to it. Wife is reading the 3rd Manticore Ascendant book, right now.

Amazing how close to the plot he got. It is, of course, a white beret, but still amazing.

Publicity must be helping. It's been out 2 1/2 months and into 2nd printing.

For GKC especially --

When Jerry Pournelle died, he had been working on vol. 4 of his Janissaries series, Mamelukes. Apparently it was about 50% completely written, with the remainder of the story outlined. Anyway, his son Philip took up the task of completing it, with David Weber as co-author:

Looks great. I'll possibly be seeing David early next year. If so, I'll ask how it is going. Thank you.

The only thing Pournelle-related that would please me more is finding out that there are some unfinished CoDominium books getting finished and published

I've been looking for my Janissaries books. I know I have one, think I have two, and probably will have to buy duplicates.

It's confusing because there are a couple of omnibus editions. I think there's one for the 2nd and 3rd volumes and another for all three.

A 3 in 1 would be the simplest. But I've only seen a combo of the 2nd and 3rd.

How'd that work out for Tolkien? And Herbert?

Tran is an omnibus of Clan & Crown and Storms of Victory, and Lord of Janissaries is an omnibus of Janissaries and Tran.

Worked out OK for Tolkien; I've not really read any of Brian Herbert's stuff.
