Hi Ann,
I recently purchased this book from Ignatius Press, and I just finished reading it. Nice job! I really enjoyed it. I also found that it got better as it went along -- I liked the last story the best, and the middle story second best.
I have read many of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes novels and short stories, though I last read them many years ago. Now I am wanting to get out my old Sherlock Holmes books and read them again.
I am sure it must be much harder to write a well-established character created by someone else than to write an original character, because people will be critical if the character is not true to the original stories. Based on what I remember from Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, I think you did a great job. Not to mention that writing a first-person account in the words of Pope Leo XIII must have been a challenge, but again it was done very well.
Thanks for what I'm sure was much hard work on this book.
Paul
