Wow, they had spent $250,000 on it. I wonder if they will replace it - and with what.

Given the amount of kitsch in most Catholic stores, I'm not sure anything other than, "Sorry about your statue" is warranted.

If anyone thinks that Jesus would have a problem playing a game of football or kicking around a soccer ball with some cute cuddly children then I guess we better stop playing football and kicking around a soccer ball with cute cuddly children.

I also understand that Jesus had to go and relieve Himself once in a while, but I do not make a statue of Him doing that.

See how absurd your argument is?

Bummer,

I've always enjoyed seeing that along I-75. It wasn't quite my style, but it is nice to see Christ positively portrayed in a very public way.

I do hope they rebuild it.

I agree with Bombadil...

I would be happy if a like strike hit a certain statue outside the Cathedral in L.A.

I wonder what the pastor decided to preach on the following Sunday.

Pax, there is a big difference between playing football and relieving oneself. One is a public sporting event, the other, not so much.

But, for other reasons, yes I do see how absurd my statement was and hopefully everyone else does too.

My kids and I were taken aback the first time we saw it. It certainly did get one's attention.
