Our local newspaper published a list of “Hate Groups” according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. Neo-Nazis were there, but so are many Christian organizations including the American Family Association.

https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map

So I visited the SPLC website and reported a hate organization. I reported the Southern Poverty Law Center as a hate organization. They hate anyone with different ideas than their own. The SPLC needs to practice love, tolerance, and open mindedness, and stop hating.

The SPLC is the Snopes of Social Justice: they have positioned themselves as the arbiters of charity/hate, based on no authority other than that they have given to themselves. Yet, people "just know" that they have the final say in the issue.

Xavier, darlin', you are the small child in the cheering crowd pointing at the Emperor and declaring that he has no clothes. Until the sheeple take the blinders off their eyes, prepare yourself for a lot of derision. Still, props to you for being that voice crying in the wilderness.

I guess this is in response to my citation of this group's estimation that there are around 5000-7000 active white supremacists in the United States?

Yeah, they do have a ridiculously broad definition of what constitutes a 'hate group', which is why I find their estimate of only 5000-7000 active white supremacists so remarkable. They want to try to paint everything as racist, and yet, even they can't really claim that there is an epidemic of white supremacism and are forced to admit that such groups are rather small and insignificant. The fact that it comes from a group that is really disinclined to admit something like that is what makes the admission remarkable.

I think George Soros sponsors these hate groups.

I think their blanket characterization of 'Catholic traditionalist' groups as 'hate groups' is unfair, however, it is based on a kernel of truth: there really is a certain fringe element within the Catholic traditionalist movement that is anti-Semitic and Holocaust denying, see e.g. bishop Williamson. I don't think it is true of all, or even the majority, of traditionalists, but it is there, it isn't something that the SPLC made up.

One can, of course, note the irony that groups like the SPLC who constantly complain that 'it is not true that all Muslims are terrorists' see no problem with applying the broad brush to suggest that all Catholic traditionalists are anti-Semitic.

Note also that the SPLC is on board with the gay rights movement.

I am not defending the SPLC. As I said above, they are invested in trying to make the number of 'hate groups' as large as possible, and they achieve this by applying an overly broad definition of what constitutes a 'hate group.' It is increasingly getting to the point where they are wiling to label any group which is not left wing and socialist as a 'hate group.' I often wonder how long it will be before they list something like the Republican party or the Mormon church.

My point is simply that the specific 'Catholic traditionalist' groups that they list are not being included because they are either 'Catholic' or 'traditionalist.' In fact, if you look at the specific groups that they list, you won't find any group that you would likely support. They don't include mainstream Catholic groups as 'hate groups' but rather they limit themselves to fringe groups like the Diamond Brothers.

Whether people like the Diamond Brothers should be labeled 'hate groups' is a good question, but the that they are fringe extremists is undeniable.

I like your methods. Hoist them on their own petard, I always say.
