My brother (raised, as I was, nominally Catholic) has fallen away and has declared himself atheist. He's still been accepting discussion about it, though, so I'm pleased on that count... but he seems more determined to find evidence for his unbelief than really seeking what is true, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, he currently mentioned that he finds Richard Carrier interesting. I've never heard of him and don't have a lot of time to read or research his stuff atm. I'm wondering if there are any good rebuttals from respected theologians, apologists, or other experts for his arguments--directed at his work specifically, if possible, but as long as it covers his arguments (I don't know what they are, but I assume nothing really new), it'll work. I'm not asking you guys to do the work for me, just wondering if anyone has come across a link or a book for that and can give a recommendation or point me in the right direction so I don't waste too much time searching? :D

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Prayers, of course, are also appreciated!

No problem. As far as I know, he could just be a blogger that my brother came across. I'll have more time to figure out what he's about in a couple of weeks and go from there. Until then, I'll just keep praying and try to be open to discussion and challenges from my brother and his friends. :wave

Is this a New Atheist guy? If so, the best work I know of in response is The Last Superstition. Be warned that it's rather feisty, but it's on target.

I've seen a few videos where he is debating a Christian apologist. My personal favorite being with Trent Horn here:

There is also one with Lane Craig from a little longer ago:

Thank you both! I'll watch the debate videos soon, and will order the book if my library doesn't have it when I stop by today. :D
