How would you respond - If you died 2nite where would you go? Heaven or hell? This seems to be the most critical question for the Once Saved Always Saved crowd.
They make hay of people who say "well I would hope Jesus will take in to account the good that I have done". You gotta be sure of your salvation. So how would you answer?

 There's a huge gap between those two sentences. Obviously, a Catholic who knows his faith would never say the former. But neither would he agree to the latter. Were you meaning to say that the OSAS folks assert the latter, and don't like that Catholics disagree with them?

The OSAS person that I am dealing with has stated it pretty much the way I laid it out. Gaps are not unusual with these people. There is always the part missing in scripture where Paul is speaking about falling away or "saved if" where it says "but those who knew they were saved slept through that part of the sermon". Deal mostly with the first part.

I don't know where I'll go, only God knows that. I like to think it will be Heaven, and I have followed the faith and I keep the Holy Family in my heart. I prefer not to focus on the afterlife, but to focus on this life and the good I can do while I am here. I think trying to turn religion into something practiced solely for the benefits that may, or may not, come in the afterlife defeats the purpose.

Along with that, like St. Paul, I'd say, "I am not conscious of anything against me, but I do not thereby stand acquitted; the one who judges me is the Lord." (I probably wouldn't use those exact words, though. :) )

And I'd add that I have enough attachment to sin that I expect I'd be needing some purification in Purgatory before I could be in the presence of God.

I would go to Heaven.

Because Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sin. I am justified by faith in him as the propitiation for my sin.

I've got a large catholic family. Most of them would give this sort of answer. My dad has specifically told me that he does good things so he can work his way to heaven.

Say what you will, but he's the product of 12 years of catholic schooling. His mother was a devout catholic, and his sister is a nun.

Yeah kinda like how you are the product of being raised Catholic and an altar boy but now believe in OSAS....error abounds.

My brother is a doctor, and my mom loves medicine. As such, I am more than competent to dispense medical advice. :fyi:

This is one of my terrifying dilemmas since I was a child even to today. Putting myself on my deathbed and contemplating the eternal outcome. It's when I pray for the gift of hope and Gods mercy on my soul. There is also some strange assurance in knowing that if I do go to hell, it will be because the one perfect and infinitely wise God, doesn't want the likes of me in His heaven. It could only be the right outcome whatever happens to my soul.

I would rejoice to find myself in purgatory. (Though I would rather just go straight to heaven :fyi: )

My answer is: "I will go wherever people go who are working out their own salvation with fear and trembling, because God is at work in me." (Phil. 2:12-13)

I'd have been disappointed in you if you hadn't said something like that. :)

I don't believe you. I believe you represent your father's faith about as accurately as you do ours, which is not at all. YOU believe he is trying to work his way to heaven. HE never told you that.
