Hi, everyone! This translation is going to require a bit of background information—not to help with the translation, but rather so that I don't sound like a buffoon :D :

I have been helping provide music for the Canons Regular of the New Jerusalem in their recent stays in Charles Town, WV, and to do so, we require supplements to lengthen the music at Mass (for example, adding psalm verses to the Offertory and Communion Antiphons to fill the gaps left if other music is not available). These are taken from various and sundry books from which we are required to print only the necessary pages every time we need them, resulting in what I see as a waste of paper. Therefore, I would like to put all of these books together and publish them in one volume for the Canons and me to use during Mass.

Now to the good part: I need a translation for the title of the volume. I'd like to call it "The Canonical Music(al) Supplement," or as close as I can get in Latin (there is a running joke around here of referring to anything the Canons use as "the Canonical _____," such as "the Canonical Car" or, even better, "the Canonical Canoe"). Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance!

This might be too involved, but what are the grammatical/stylistic differences between the two? 'Supplementum musicale canonicum' and 'supplementum musicum canonis,' that is.

supplementum = noun, gender neuter, case nominative
musicum = adjective (musicus), gender neuter, case nominative
canonis = noun (canon), gender masculine, case genitive

The difference is that the first is wrong in the sense of not being good Latin, the second acceptable grammatically. Musicum is musical. Musicale is not a word in Latin (though it is in English). But the second is wrong in meaning. It would be "The musical supplement of the canon/rule"

Supplementum musicum canonicum would be "Canonical Musical Supplement"
