Quid sentiendum de systemate Millenarismi mitigati, docentis scilicet Christum Dominum ante finale iudicium sive praevia sive non praevia plurium iustorum resurrectione, visibiliter in hanc terram regnandi causa esse venturum. Resp. (cfirm. a S. P'ce 20. Iul.): Systema Millenarismi mitigati tuto doceri non posse.

What should be thought about the system of mitigated Millenarianism, which teaches that Christ the Lord is to come visibly reigning upon this earth before the final judgment, either before or not before the general resurrection of the just? Response (confirmed by the Holy Father): The system of mitigated millenarianism cannot be taught safely.

I just ran this by Forum Junkie, and he tells me you've got it completely wrong. He said the proper translation is:

Always wear underwear. Always wear underwear. Always wear underwear. Always wear underwear. Always wear underwear. Always wear underwear. Always wear underwear. Always wear underwear. Always wear underwear.

A PM to PED would have been more appropriate, since the rest of us will just use this as a post-padding opportunity.

That being said, here is the joke you were expecting:

"That is all Greek to me."

Don't be ridiculous. He was expecting my joke, not yours.

Can regnare in terram mean "reign upon earth"? I would have thought that would be regnare in terra. I would make in hanc terram modify venturum: to come visibly to this earth to reign.

Not that I have any grounds to object to a thread hijack, but I really do need this for my class today and I'd hope the answer doesn't get buried.

Companion to the Catechism, #676: In recent times on several occasions this Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office has been asked what must be thought of the system of mitigated Millenarianism, which teaches, for example, that Christ the Lord before the final judgement, whether or not preceded by the resurrection of the many just, will come visibly to rule over this world. The answer is: The system of mitigated Millenarianism cannot be taught safely.
