Now that I have spent 10+ years getting used to the Mass, the weeks, and major times of the Church, I am noticing the smaller details of the liturgical year.

I see there is a rose-colored band above, and I wonder why?

Thanks!!

Rose (pink) vestments on Gaudete (in Advent) and Lætare (in Lent - both Latin words mean 'rejoice' and come from the first word of the Introit verse at those Masses) Sundays mean a lightening of the penitential character of those seasons for the day, charity/encouragement giving you a break so you don't lose hope and give up on trying to do good.

If you're talking about our banner, it's for St. Paul Miki & Companions, who are martyrs. It should have been red yesterday as well for St. Agatha, but I forgot to check my calendar. Tomorrow it will be green again.

Hey, cool! I never even noticed that the page changes colors to match the liturgy.

Sometimes it doesn't. Depends on how forgetful I am on a particular day. ::):

Someone with way too much time on their hands (i.e., not me) should put together a phpBB mod to do that automatically.

I'm afraid there wouldn't be much of a demand, but it would be nice.

I don't even know what the $%&* that is. I assume it's a cyberthingy of some kind. Go for it. I love liturgical colors.

Thanks Sig for explaining that.

Gee, Obi, that's a good idea. I bet a lot of Catholic sites would pick up on it, if there was variation in the shape.
