Now here's something novel.

I had to check twice to make sure it wasn't an Episcopal Church.

We need to pray harder.

I agree. But why did the priest wear in green color? This is supposed to be All Hallows Eve, the eve of All Saints. There is no Halloween Mass, but All Saints Mass can be celebrated the night before November 1 (originally May 13 hundreds of years ago), methinks.

Then the color would be white.

There's something really really wrong with a person dressed as a demon or the devil handing out (like Halloween candy) Holy Communion.

Who is the bishop there? Oh, wait, let me guess....Mahoney?

Sheesh.

Maybe some nicely worded letters from some liturgically savvy people would be of some help...

Rachel (and prayers, of course, never hurt)

And the witch cantor was a nice touch.

Siggy,

I agree. I was particularly offended by the lack of respect being shown by someone in a devil costume handling the Eucharist.

Very badly done. I don't understand why that priest thinks it's funny, it seems that those of us who respect the Real Presence find it pretty hurtful. :(

If he's celebrating All Saints Day the night before, then yes, white.
Otherwise, you're still in "Ordinary Time"... thus, green.

The actual date was Saturday night, October 28.

EDIT:

it clearly states at the beginning of the video "saturday vigil", that's true...
but halloween fell on a tuesday this year and All Saints Day was on Wednesday (nov 1)... so yes... he should have been wearing green at the saturday vigil, which was Oct 28.

oh, except that Sunday (again, where he wore green) SHOULD have been white because Sunday, 29 October, was the Feast of Christ the King.

so, still, he should have worn white at the vigil of the Feast of Christ the King. (I assume that feast day is still on the calendar, but I'm not really sure.... if it's NOT, then he's ok to wear green).

... considering what happened at this monstrosity, wearing the wrong color would be the LEAST of that priest's problems...

Although the Feast of Christ the King is still on the RC Calendar, it is no longer on the Last Sunday in October. In the current calendar it is celebrated on the Last Sunday of the liturgical year, i.e. the Sunday just before Advent.. This year, as Siggy pointed out, it is November 26th.

Okay Okay...

I have to admit that some of the things that go on in Mass that people here at DFC don't like, I often times don't mind.

BUT THIS IS INSANE.

Yea, and the devil handing out communion... Not Cute.

No one in this church thought this was a bad idea? No one? Bizzare.

This is one of the reasons we try to make sure DCF board members receive instruction and get their questions answered while they hang out here. Sometimes defending the faith means being able to spot the weeds growing within the Church.
