appreciate any quick help before bc I think I can maybe get a quicker response here than from my priest. trying to figure out the instructions for ad libbing a psalm for the communion antiphon for palm Sunday.

so I look in this book I've got (psalm verses for introit and communion propers for the extraordinary form of the Roman rite) and accordingly, the index tells me to look at page 74, 77-78.

SO HERE'S THE QUESTION because I can't figure out the latin exactly...

page 74 tells me: Dominica I Passionis ....
..and I kinda presume that's passion Sunday which was this past sunday... and then it's got the "ad communionem" with the chant for the psalm to ad lib.

flip to 77-78 and it tells me: Dominica II Passionis Seu in Palmis
.... which I presume is telling me to do this stuff on palm sunday. the "ad communionem" part tells me this:

ad communionem: psalmus CREDIDI [that's the psalm from pg 74, btw], ut in dominica I passionis, 74, vel ad libitum psalmis 21 cum terminatiine G, ut sequitur....

and then it gives me a full page of psalm 21 (not CREDIDI which is psalm 115) ad lib.

is this saying "for palm Sunday, do the thing from page 74 (CREDIDI) for passion sunday, but use the "ending" for psalm 21 at "point G" as folliows:....

is that accurate?

thanks for any help

I think "vel" in this case means "or":

ad communionem: psalmus CREDIDI [that's the psalm from pg 74, btw], ut in dominica I passionis, 74, vel ad libitum psalmis 21 cum terminatiine G, ut sequitur....

Psalm "Credidi" as in the First Sunday of the Passion, 74, or ad libitum Psalm 21 with ending G

"with ending G, as follows"

Which is why Psalm 21 follows the rubric :)
