 Post subject: Parishes Where No One Kneels or Bows

Please consider the following scenario.

As is typical in most parishes these days, there is an altar in the sanctuary, and a large tabernacle to the left.

For whatever reason ... people walk into the pews, and don't bow to the altar or genuflect to the tabernacle (the context is outside of Mass).

Coming from a very traditional parish, this is shocking.

Isn't there any written law in support of the practice of showing respect for the altar or tabernacle by a bow or genuflection?

Around these parts it is typical to have the Tabernacle located in the Sanctuary.

Around these parts, people are so accustomed to genuflecting to the Tabernacle when they enter the pew that they do it on Good Friday when the Tabernacle is empty.

Maybe it is a regional thing and your Pastor or Bishop could address it with the people?
