Hi friends,

I went to confession yesterday, and one particular sin I confessed (which had occurred shortly after my previous confession), I stated to be at the end of April.

When I got home that evening, I updated my "count-up" clock on my computer, which counts the time since my last confession -- and realized that I had erred. My previous confession had been on May 7th; apparently my memory was faulty and I thought it was at the end of April. Oops!

I'm comfortable in saying that I stated the nature of the sin accurately. I wasn't trying to deceive the priest as to when it occurred; I just made an honest mistake. Should I have just not mentioned the date? And should I mention my mistake at my next confession?

Unless the date seriously affects the gravity of the sin, don't worry about it and don't fix the error.

I figured as much, but wanted to ask to be sure. Thank you, Father. :wave

I've honestly never heard that one should state exactly when he committed a particular sin. I suppose there's some rare circumstance where it might affect the gravity of the sin, but even then I would think it would be more due to circumstances than the date itself ("I committed a sin of impurity on my wedding night" or something like that).
