Have you seen the news? Decades after John XXIII placed the name of Joseph in the Roman Canon, it seems that the name of the great Patron of the Dying, Terror of Demons, will be in the Eucharistic Prayers II, III and IV in the 3rd edition of the Missale Romanum.

I am not adding it until I receive a communication from the diocesan office of divine worship.

Wise move, padre. Trust, but verify.

It sounds like there will be a formal announcement including the English text shortly.

Vatican Radio) In the first decree of a liturgical nature of this pontificate, Pope Francis has decided that name of St. Joseph should be added to the Eucharistic Prayers II, II and IV, as they appear in the third typical edition of the Roman Missal, after the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Below please find the text of the decree issued Wednesday by the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments:

It is posted in today's Bollettino (includes the text in Latin, Italian, French, English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Polish).

Yes, it takes a LONG time to publish that decree dated May 1, the Feast of St. Joseph. Here's one in Latin version:

6 weeks is not a _long_ time in Church terms!

I like the reverence to Saint Joseph when his name is spoken in Eucharist Prayers II, III, and IV.

Better idea: get rid of "Eucharistic prayers" II, II, and IV. Just remember: the source material for EPII was thought to be of Roman origin. Rather, it was composed from non-Roman texts from a canon originating form Syria, modified for modern use overnight in a coffee shop in Rome.
