I've always called them touring caps. Great for keeping the ears dry in a light rain.

I have one now. From Ireland. I'm not wearing it as I am in a robe. That would be silly.

But maybe I'll put it on and see.

Ok. You're good.

Your beard is starting to look like mine.

I told buddy of mine today that I am now officially old. Of course the real old guys would laugh at such a suggestion. But it's hard to think of a hat more suggestive of old age than a flat cap. The really old guys who dressed up in a suit every day and wore a narrow-brimmed fedora or trilby are almost all gone now, I think.

Not the last one found.

Ah, chartreuse! One of your more appealing shades.

I'm seriously considering buying a boater, or even a bowler hat. The boater would be more suitable on a young man back in the day, but in our world, any hat that isn't a gimme cap is a throw-back, an "old man's hat."

What I really want is a tricorn, but I'm just theatrical at heart.

You need to express your personality with your head covering. Mine for example--

I'd be afraid my head would cook if I wore that in this part of the country.

Actually, I grew up here. After a 35-year absence, I am back, and living in the house I grew up in with a title (and property taxes).

I miss the town we lived in, but I always wanted to be back where I can find bookstores, museums, things to do- and a church where I can escape track lighting, guitar liturgies and extraordinary ministers.
