Well, he will be soon. He's very ill.

I'm getting better.

HEY, HEY! Quit talking about "feeling ancient." We need to keep this family-friendly, lest I have to figure out how to explain this at Confession.

No, you're not -- you'll be stone dead in a moment.

I'm 51 but it's not the years, it's the mileage. I have to walk with a cane or hiking stick. I have a bad heart valve, bad back, and shot knees. My hair is silver...it's all there, but silver. I often leave my blinker on while driving. I have post-it notes everywhere as I can't remember a thing two minutes after someone tells me not to forget it because it's important. In short, I'm old.

I'd like to think that I feel just as I did thirty years ago, but the truth is I can't remember how I felt then.

I made this forum, and I'm 61. "Us old guys & gals" was tongue-in-cheek. There's always going to be at least one person who doesn't get our jokes and who has to act all offended. :nooo:

I was virtually offended. :D :salut:

****

And then I read Siggy's comment again.

:laughhard . I misread "act all" as actually. BOY! I really am old.

I feel old at the moment. Just got back from vacation at the shore and spent a lot of time in the water (at the kids' urging - "Daddy, come in the water with us!"). It took a lot out of me. I went to bed before 9:30 last night. :nooo:

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but it's only just begun.

Yeah, I know it's all downhill from here (41). :? On a side note a couple of my kids did enjoy playing shuffleboard and that does seem to be a rage among the older crowd, so at least they'll keep me company. :P

Seriously, I'm running 10 k's now, when 4 years ago I was flat on my back.

Don't give up yet. I am 85 years old and although I have had two heart/stent operations and a hip replacement and suffer a little from rheumatism in the legs I am still walking 30 minutes each day and I keep alert with being heavily involved with my laptop.
I thank God for every extra day.

Well golly gee, looks like I found a good board for myself. Yay!

Ya know, I was retired from the USAF on permanent disability at age 22. i worked as a civilian for ten years after, then became totally and permanently disabled at 33 (per the US government). I've lived hard, but I'll be doggone'd if I FEEL old. The whole concept of "time" fascinates me. Some days seem to last/take forever, then come midnight on December 31st, it seems the entire year flew by!

And, I don't recall the exact passage/quote, but methinks somewhere in the OT it says something to the effect that our lives are but a breath in His nostrils.
Makes sense to me.....when considering eternity (both future and past, mathematically), our longest of lives are not even a wisp of time. HOWEVER, we are blessed with that time and our Lord, and the opportunity not only to experience eternal life with Him, but also to live each moment FOR Him. Awesome stuff right there ya all.

Anywho, glad I found this forum, and even more tickled that I found this thread. Ya all are cracking me up ya ole coots! (translation for those not familiar with mountain man dialect of English language = " ya old farts" (and pardon me if I just used an unacceptable word there, I apologize if it causes any offense, but it was the only way to properly translate for those unfamiliar with Appalachian area folks like me :).

Ya all take care now. This "old fella" is gonna get to looking for some apologetic vids on YouTube to fall asleep to, else turn on iCatholic FM on my iPhone and let that lull my old rump off to la la land.

Peace & Blessings to All!
~Smiddy (newbie Catholic and board newbie as well)

This forum doesn't get much action, I'm afraid, but feel free to make use of it. :)
