My spiritual home is Holy Rosary. Annunciation is much prettier, but HR has its old-world charms. The air is filled with incense and the sound of Schola Cantorum. Latin is used, and so is - I can't believe I'm saying this! - a communion rail. The place is filled with families old and young. In fact, there are as many children as adults. The kids are well-behaved, well-scrubbed and cute as buttons.

Plus, it's run by Dominicans. I have a soft spot in my heart for the old orders. Maybe it's the fact that I first knew them in Galveston, and later at the University of Houston.

i've never been to Holy Rosary, though i have had friends who attended

i have been to Annunciation.... in fact my one and only Tridentine Mass was there... it was Palm Sunday and i met a dcfer from lake charles there... each time i have been, the communion rail was used... is that no longer the case?

I'm pretty sure Annunciation also uses a communion rail. It's been years since I attended Mass there, but I can't imagine a church that uses the Tridentine rite would do away with it.
