I have this old copy of said book, it was left from my great-uncle who was a diocesan priest. It's absolutely beautiful, written in 1934 so much of it is in Latin. Lots of devotions that haven't had a chainsaw taken to them.

Anyone know of anywhere I might be able to get a copy of this? This copy has a broken cover. :crying:

Or if anyone knows of any reputable book restoration services. Quotes I have been getting so far have been... high.

365$-465$

It's not huge given the age of the book... but it's still a lot.

I can't find a book with that title and author on bookfinder, which makes me think that, if it's available at all, the price will be ... ginormous.

You should be able to find someone who can rebind for less than that. Ask around for local recommendations. $50-$75 is reasonable, I'd think.

Aye... I found a single copy on Amazon for 275... So it'd not make much sense to pay more than the cost of another.

There's another place might be able to do it for 250, we shall see.

I'm new to this antique book stuff, sheesh ::):

There's this thing called "real people" who sometimes have advice. (Shhh. Don't tell anyone I mentioned "real" anything.) You might ask a priest you know; we are more likely than average to have had a book rebound at some point.

I'll be sure to ask a few priests I know.

Your public library will likely be able to refer you to the best book restoration folks.

What's a "library"? I mean, outside the computer context.

Archeologists still haven't figured out just what they were, several competing theories so far.

I talked to a friend who works at the Mount's library, (as of late they have a good amount of older texts) and they send them away somewhere pricey.

Book binding is a dying art.

The art of banning gherkin, for example, has completely fallen by the wayside.
