In cleaning out my parent's house (dad died in July, mom died in 03) I came across a bunch of their books.
One was "The Lessons of St. Francis: How to Bring Simplicity and Spirituality into Your Daily Life" by John Michael Talbot.

I knew I had heard of the name John Michael Talbot before.... and turns out he was a musician who converted to Catholicism; which I'd gather most of you are aware.... I wasn't.

The book has a personalized little note to my dad one by John Michael Talbot and one by Terry Talbot (Terry drew a goofy face and an unreadable note). It's odd though, because I don't see where Terry contributed to the book. Just J.M. Talbot and a Steve Rabey.

Anyway, I didn't know what to expect while reading it (still am reading it) but sometimes the book seems to border on "Self-Help" territory. Thankfully it's been pulling back from going too far into that country. However, with that subtitle to the book I shouldn't be too stunned. So far not too spiritually profound like Fr. Gawronski's "A Closer Walk with Christ: an Ignatian Retreat".

JMT makes his home here in Arkansas, not too far away. If you ever get a chance to hear him in person, go.

First, his mastery of the guitar is best appreciated live and second, he is a genuinely nice guy.
