I've always loved a good, scary story. One used to be able to find good, scary books. Vampires have been my favorites.

After Anne Rice came along, vampire books became SUPER sexualized. After awhile, I stopped trying to even read any of them.

Then, my favorite Director/Producer/Movie-Maker, Guillermo del Toro, co-authored a vampire book "The Strain". I bought and read the first one. Enjoyed it immensely.

My library's on-line service has the entire trilogy. I've just finished book two and have begun book three. Right now, in the midst of all of the drama in my own life and in the world, it is nice to escape into a world of bad guys and good guys - and thus far, only a smidgen of a romance thread without sex scenes. del Toro's vampires are not romantic tortured heroes, no, they are evil.

I've begun watching the TV show, two seasons are now on Hulu, I'm only a few episodes into the first season. They depart from the book, I hope they don't get all gooey and romantic.

I have never had any interest in vampires, the only vampire book I have read or will ever read is Dracula by Bram Stoker.

AMC. That means I won't see it unless it comes to Hulu.

I thought vampires were done to death before Anne Rice came along. I still think they've been done to (un)death. The last vampire story I actually enjoyed was the spoof movie "Love at First Bite." Its working title was "Dracula Sucks." :laughhard

You go online, and the commercials are worse. Our wi-fi is a bit wonky, and every time it cuts out (almost always before a pivotal scene), you have to start all over and you can't fast-forward through the commercials, which are the same two, repeated over and over ad nauseum.

Last time I checked (will admit, it was many months ago) you had to have a super seeekret password thingy from your cable company to access content... and I don't have that so :(

I will never be able to regard Preacher as anything other than blasphemous filth. Garth Ennis is one of the worst writers in the history of language and the fact that AMC chose to adapt this vomitous abomination for mass consumption on television is simply awful.

not even knowing this came from a graphic comic, imagine my surprise when i find the whole first season actually took place before the point where the comic actually started... they got to make up quite a backstory....

as i said, between preacher and mr robot, i'm not sure which one i would choose as the weirdest thing i watch on television

I have no use for vampire stories. Which is odd, given my horror/ghost proclivities. Read a 650+ page collection of classic ghost stories while I was AFK (as Sheldon taught me to say) recently.

I watched 20 minutes of the first episode of Mr Robot (it was on Hulu I think)... turned it off - and I LIKE weird. It was same ole same ole "ohhhhh, I am super hacker" boring. Are you saying I should try it again?

well, the storyline has certainly progressed well past super hackerdom... if you try it again, you need to start at episode 1 and progress through... though for weirdability, this season's first 4 episodes have certainly exceeded expectation
