Well, magazine fairy left a gift in my office.

A copy paper box FULL of 1950/60s Sci Fi magazines. Amazing Science Fiction, Worlds of IF (I've not yet unpacked the entire box). I want to call in sick and binge read.

Is it wrong that I want to cover the walls with this? The cover art is so amazing.

I suggest you call in well.

Scenes of my childhood. Fond recollection recalls them to view.

Treated myself to a Vernor Vinge short story at lunch, courtesy of the April 1967 Worlds of IF. This issue has an editorial about the death of the Apollo astronauts.

May I recommend Vinge's FIRE UPON THE DEEP? And did you know he was a more than fair artist?

Back in 1999 I took a job with a company in Little Rock. A long time friend had started his own company, was bringing together what he felt was the "all-star team" to create a great company.

When I came to the team, I was in IT. Our CIO was a man from Carnegie Mellon, a brilliant man. First time we traveled together, he noticed the book I was reading on the plan and recommended Mr Vinge to me. "Fire Upon The Deep" was the first of his work that I purchased (and my son made off with it at some point over the years) :cloud9:

Just as soon as I can find our wi-fi password (we have this scramble every time there is a new device in our home) I will!
