Are you talking about the movie I, Frankenstein which just came out? It bombed at the box office and got almost universally bad reviews ....

I haven't read the book.

Koontz's name appears nowhere in the credits on IMBD. If he had anything to do with it at all, he must have disavowed it long before the credits were done.

The plot summary at Wikipedia is nothing like Koontz's novels. The "good-guy" Frankenstein's monster idea predates Koontz (see Fred Saberhagen's The Frankenstein Papers).

Saberhagen was a practicing Catholic. I never knew that, but it makes sense.

The monster is the good guy in Mary Shelley's original novel, the real villain is the 'good' Doctor Frankenstein who created the monster

I'm not sure that's completely accurate. I have a fairly good memory of it -- read it once in middle school and again in college. What makes you think Dr. Frankenstein is a villain and that the monster is good?

The monster was non-violent, loved poetry, spoke French, and he was a vegetarian because he couldn't bring himself to kill, but eventually the constant abuse by Victor pushed him over the edge. The entire point of the story is that the monster turned 'bad' only because Victor Frankenstein was a bad 'father' who rejected his 'son'. You see,the monster was bad only because Victor was bad.

That's not the Frankenstein I remember. The monster killed Victor's wife because Victor destroyed his work toward making the monster's mate. When the monster first asks Victor to make him a mate (which is their first encounter since the monster was reanimated), he has already killed. I don't remember a pattern of abuse.
