There's a funny blurb on the cover of the book by JRR Tolkien that reads:
"The magical, the fairy story... may be made a vehicle of Mystery. This at least is what George MacDonald attempted, achieving stories of power and beauty when he succeeded."

It's not an insult, just one of the more sober book cover reviews I have ever come across. They're almost always ingratiating. Compared to those Tolkien's snippet had my chuckling.

"The Light Princess" is very good. I'm still on this one.
There's a funny bit of dialog between two Asian metaphysicians who are brought in to solve the Princess's dilemma. One representing a materialist view of the problem and one a spiritual view.

Good so far.
