Has anyone read this?
I just came across reference to the book and how Kathleen had a Protestant upbringing but decided to spend 2 years in a Benedictine monastery and found much sense in the vow of chastity practiced there.

I haven't read it. However, just cause, I pre-suspect that the author will pick and choose the parts of the discipline that resonate with her -- in some sort of spiritual fog -- and ignore the rest. It is that same individualistic, narcissistic package that many in modernity bring to every table. And it is the basis for cafeteria Catholicism.

But I could be wrong.

It's been a long time since I read it, and I've changed a lot since then, but I don't recall its being annoying.

Off topic, but I read Warren's All the King's Men in my 20's and again in my 60's. It was two different books...because I was two different people. I have pondered whether I should reread several books to see if they have changed because I have. Like Heinlein's Glory Road. But my second reading of ATKM revealed a much more nuanced, realistic, human, and incredibly sad book.

In general, I've decided to let the captivating, really good books I read in my youth stay that way.

I am just now rereading The Once and Future King, and am pleased to discover that I still think it's good.

Yes, but he didn't write that.

I think he was making a comparison to OAFK.

I'll bet he remembers Rex quondam, Rexque Futurus, too.

I do.

Right over there on the wall.

Above an Irish proverb about hinges, or something.

I might hold off on buying the book from her....
She seems a bit like Buechner... a mixed bag.
