Hey everyone! As you know, I'm new.

It started a couple weeks ago when I was doing a pass-time activity I'm rather fond of: surfing the net, checking out random religious forums, absorbing information from vast databases of knowledge from many diverse people with different perspectives(please excuse the wordiness).

I came across this site, and was quite impressed by the intelligence of the forum's population. I quickly made it a "favorite."

For awhile, I'd just come here and checkout random threads. I found that lot of interesting people are members of this special forum. I knew I could learn a lot here, so after awhile of just visiting, I decided I'd become a member as well.

I'm not a great theologian nor a deep-thinking philosopher, like some(many?) of you are, but I know as much as an average, weekly, Church-going Catholic. By becoming part of these forums, I hope to learn more about Church doctrine, and strengthen my faith.

That's about it! :D

Hi, again!

Hi, again!

Have you come across this game yet? If not, go to the reporting thread in support forum. You may not come across the intelligence or depth you've mentioned, but it'll give you a good laugh. :D

Welcome, by the way, though you've obviously been checking out this site for longer than I have.

Welcome. This is a great place to deepen faith and increase knowledge. Glad you are here!

Wordiness is welcomed here!
Thats why I'm so at home. :)

Or perhaps I should rephrase that -

The spoken word is of infinite value, but in a forum such as this, most rare. In substitute, then, to this noble construct, we have the written word (or more accurately, the typed word), which, although relatively new in light of the broader history of mankind, is guaranteed to span the ages to come as the prevailing method of communication. This typed word is encouraged in vast quantities, indeed, to the extent of verbosity in the extreme.

This tendency to the verbose in the nature of the dissertations here, both in the form of discursive prose or metered verse, is what enables me to feel as one among like minds, as one among many. I am overwhelmed with a distinct awareness of feeling relaxed and like I am in my own dwelling.

Ahem.
Hehe. Anyways, very glad to have you!

haha Yes, but what I meant was sometimes it can come off as annoying or corny(not at all referring to you).

Take for instance some of the politicians, journalists, and other scholars that you see on "Meet the Press." Their vocabularies are amazing. They don't even try to sound smart. It's just how they naturally talk. And the words they use are so unheard of, you think in your head "man, this guy needs to speak in layman's terms!" I guess that would be an example of annoying.

Corny would be when someone uses so many excess words, that the necessary subject and verb are drowned out, and it becomes sort of like poetry(not saying poetry is corny). When you're trying to discuss something and are trying to make a point, poetry would seem out of place. Especially if you were answering a "regular" question. :D
