Post subject:  Hey everyone!

How is everyone doing here? I've been a long time lurker but a first time poster. I have to thank Jimmy Akin for having the link to this wonderful site. I also post on a few other Catholic forums. In two weeks I'll be a 21 yr old Catholic. I'm currently a student at the University of Notre Dame and I love my faith. This upcoming year I'm going to be my dorm's liturgical commisioner and I'm really looking forward to promoting an orthodox Catholic liturgy there. I really at a crossroad in my life seeing as I'm very intersted in the priesthood but I'd also like to have a BIG family. I just pray that God leads me to do his will. I look forward to enriching my faith with all of you. :D

Hi NDMike! Welcome to the board. I was a long time lurker before I joined, too.
I join you in prayer that you will discern God's will for your life.

Welcome!

But I still hold a grudge against ND for ending the University of Texas' 30-game winning streak back in 71.

My Freshman year I actually was a Longhorn. I lived in crummy Jester East.

AHh, then you probably have experienced the Jester jet blast showers (designed to wake you up) and Jester cuisine where you can eat the milk and drink the eggs and enjoy Jester potato balls. Where you can get thrice served pork (broiled, then the leftovers were breaded and fried, then the leftovers ended up in the soups and other concoctions). I Stayed in Roberts Hall (back when it was unairconditioned and cheaper) and ate at the women's dorms cafeteria across campus. Still had to eat at Jester on weekends. I They had a not so well known program to allow about 200 men from the men's dorms eat at the women's dorms. Got a chance to tour the Jester cafeteria kitchens once with its potato ball machine and it tater tot cookers.

Back in the early 80's I was a tour guide for UT. Jester was the building with the most bricks in it west of the Mississippi and the world's largest non-military dorm in the free-world and it's cafeteria was the largest in the world. Back then it was coed by floors I noticed that nowdays they seem to have done way with same sex floors. They used to allow you to open the windows there but after people set fire to their beds and tossed them out the windows, they sealed the windows. They were also concerned about jumpers.
