Hello everyone,
I'm a relative newbie to the message board scene.
I was raised Catholic, but as some may understand, as a teenager I decided I knew everything and stopped practicing.
I was married Christian, but not Catholic.
My wife was raised in a non practicing United household.
As we explored our faith lives we talked to many people, and went to many different denominations.
Just for the "heck" of it we went to mass one Sunday.
I felt at home, but wondered whether it was real or nostalgia. After my wife told me she had felt very comfortable and at peace during mass we decided to go back.
It was the same.
We called the priest and went to meet with him.
To make a long story short, my wife began classes, and at the Easter Vigil she was confirmed, made her First Communion, and we had our marriage blessed.
Now we are 19 years in with 4 wonderful children, and I am amazed at the breadth of our wonderful Church, it brings new breath and life each day.
I have read a lot of church history, and find great wonder in the consistency and faithfullness, from the Didache right through to PB XVI.
I've read the 16 Vatican II documents and I don't see the changing of doctrine many do.
Having said that, I struggle each day to remain in grace, and realize it is only God's mercy and the power of the Holy Spirit that I get through life.
Cheers all, I look forward to some great talks regarding the growth of our faith, and the sharing of God's wisdom.
ps - thanks to my friend for inviting me.
