Some of you who have read George Weigel’s excellent book, Witness to Hope: The Biography of John Paul II may recognize this as the title of one of his chapters. “Wujek” means uncle in Polish, and it was how Karol Wojtyla’s many friends who came to know him as a priest, bishop, and eventually Archbishop of Krakow and cardinal lovingly addressed him. As a Polish-American Catholic, I have always had a close devotion and fondness for our Polish pope, and I figure that today, Karol Wojtyla’s 100th birthday, is a most fitting time to make this introduction.

Greetings everyone! I am 31 years old and reside in Toledo, Ohio. My story is probably not unlike many others: I am a cradle Catholic, who, although born and raised in the faith, went my own way for a time. Around five years ago, I began to feel a real pull to reconnect with my faith. I spent a time drifting, searching for a parish to call home. Eventually, I decided to visit our beautiful Cathedral here in Toledo for the first time in over a decade. I was mesmerized by its architectural and spiritual beauty, as well as the traditionally reverent approach to the liturgy, and I knew I was home. I received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time in many years, and joined the parish.

I thank God for leading me home. I am still somewhat of a novice in theological matters, and am eager to learn more. I look forward to some faith and fellowship with you all. God Bless.

Welcome. Finding an answer to your question is to say maybe if the alter is a question to you you should express a memory of the host.
